Portland Barefoot 3v3 tourney and festival is a 3v3 tournament played to celebrate the game. It takes place Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 9am to 5pm at Concordia University Soccer Stadium (NE Liberty and NE 29th Ave, Portland, Oregon).
Each team is guaranteed at least 4 matches; each match will last 15 minutes with no half time. This event is presented by Positive Tracks, and proceeds from the event will benefit Grassroot Soccer! Grassroot Soccer, is an HIV prevention program that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. Over 630,000 adolescents and teens have already graduated from the program in 16 African countries. There will be special appearances by the Portland Timbers and Grassroot Soccer Staff/Coaches. Players, parents and fans are also invited to take part in the soccer carnival and win cool prizes. Matches will be played to the beat of live African drums and music!
Here’s how you can be involved:
Come out June 8th in Portland and play soccer (football) the way it’s played in many parts of the world: barefoot on a small pitch. Hope to see you there!
