Lose Your Shoes at Portland Barefoot Soccer

Portland, OregonPortland Barefoot Soccer’s 5th Annual 3v3 and World Soccer Festival celebrates the Beautiful Game of Soccer. Boys and Girls, grades 2nd through 8th, lose their shoes to play a minimum of four 15 minute matches throughout this all day festival. Portland Barefoot Soccer is the largest barefoot tournament in the country benefiting Grassroot Soccer.

portlandBarefootlogo250pxGrassroot Soccer is an international HIV nonprofit using the power of soccer to educate, inspire and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. Over 630,000 adolescents and teens have graduated from the program in 16 African countries. Ethan Zohn, (Co-Founder), and winner of Survivor: Africa in 2002 is a former professional soccer player in Zimbabwe. Through Ethan’s travels, he recognized the potential to teach children about HIV through the power of soccer. Ethan is excited to be part of the Portland Barefoot Soccer Festival and will be playing, greeting and signing autographs throughout the day.

The Portland Barefoot 3v3 and World Soccer Festival is sponsored by Positive Tracks, a national youth centered non-profit promoting youth fitness and wellness using sports as an agent for social change. Positive Tracks is matching dollar for dollar all proceeds from the Portland Barefoot event benefiting Grassroot Soccer, with a estimated donation $20,000. The all-day event will consist of special appearances by the Portland Timbers with fun-filled carnival activities and prizes for kids of all ages. Special activities include bubble soccer for 14 years and up, free soccer skills clinic, all to the beat of live African music!
