The United States Deaf Soccer Women’s National Team won their third straight Deaflympics gold medal with a 2-1 victory over the Russian Federation at Vasil Levsky Stadium on Sunday morning.

USA finished the 2013 Deaflympics with 27 goals and had eight different players who scored, including five with multiple goals.

For the second straight Deaflympics, Felicia Schroeder won the “unofficial” Golden Boot award for the most goals scored in the tournament, finishing with eight goals. Teammate Julia Nelson had seven goals.

Goalkeeper Meghan Maiwald and the United States defense almost held a perfect clean sheet for the tournament, but Russia scored the lone goal against the team in Sunday’s final.
