Portland Barefoot Soccer tournament takes place this Sunday

The 4th Annual Portland Barefoot Soccer 3v3 Tournament and World Soccer Festival takes place this Sunday, June 9th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year’s event once again will take place at Concordia University Stadium (NE 29th Ave. and Liberty St. in Portland) and will feature 120 teams (made up of between 3-5 youth players in grades 2-8).

Some of the other festivities and highlights in store for the day include:

* Appearances by players from the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC (arrival is due approximately around noon)

* African music all day

* A huge raffle with fantastic prizes (soccer balls, Timbers and Thorns FC tickets, signed jerseys and more!)

* Lunch available on site

All proceeds go to Grassroot Soccer and with the maximum numbers of teams participating, as well as a matching $10,000 grant from Positive Tracks, this could be a banner year for the fundraiser.

If you’d like to volunteer for the event, there’s still opportunities for those who might be available to serve as “runners” during the event. To get involved, please visit this link: http://t.co/szKlMu6Vdo or visit Portland Barefoot Soccer and fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page.
