Kick It With Kenya is a program focused on bringing vital public health education to youth in Kenya through soccer. The program uses soccer and sports as a platform to educate youth on how to live a healthier lifestyles.
Kick it with Kenya is working in collaboration with Village Volunteers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based out of Seattle, WA. They work in partnership with rural villages and capacity-building programs to support the development of sustainable solutions for community survival, education and growth.
Kick It With Kenya’s mission is to give youth the tools to reach their goals on and off the field.
A week-long program is held annually in a rural Kenyan village. Hundreds of youth gather to play soccer and thousands of community members show their support. Participants receive health and leadership education, vital health services such as HIV counseling and testing, optometry and dental exams, and the community is offered general medical treatment.
-Raise awareness of vital public health issues
-Encourage peer health education by training youth educators
-Provide basic healthcare resources to as many people as possible
-Train local leaders to teach their communities
-Provide youth with the resources to becomes leaders within their community
-Promote tribal and political peace
-Empower youth by engaging them in sports
-Decrease prevalence of HIV, malaria, other preventable diseases through education
-Hold a conference & tournament each year in different regions
-Start youth tournaments in the U.S. to fundraise
Get Involved: * Clothes For A Cause (100% of the proceeds go towards purchasing school supplies and soccer equipment)
