October 11, 2012 marks the first International Day of the Girl. Since launching Can Soccer Save the World? almost a year ago, some of the most inspiring projects I’ve come across have been those using soccer as a way to support girls’ empowerment.
One such project is Girls & Football SA, whose mission is to involve the local and global community by encouraging sport as a developmental tool for girls and by raising awareness about important issues that influence the lives of girls in South Africa.
